Marketing Internship
We’re on the hunt for someone who’s curious about fashion marketing, unafraid of fast-moving to-do lists, and maybe just a little too good at spotting trends before they hit Explore. Sound like you?
At Silai the Label, we’re a slow fashion brand redefining South Asian heritage wear for modern wardrobes. This summer, you’ll help shape the way we show up online and in real life—from planning our next product shoot to prepping for the fall festival season (and everything in between).
This is a fast-paced, high-touch internship. You won’t be grabbing coffee (unless it’s for yourself). You’ll be working directly with the founder on photoshoot coordination, email and content creation, campaign strategy, and more.
Location: Preference for candidates based in the Washington, DC metro area (DMV). This is a hybrid role with at least one in-person day per week. Remote applicants are welcome to apply, but must be able to travel for key in-person moments (photoshoots, content creation days, or events).
Schedule: 15–25 hours/week with some flexibility based on our campaign calendar
Compensation: Paid Internship or eligible for college credit, depending on your school’s requirements and internship structure
Application Deadline: May 25, 2025
What You’ll Do
Support and coordinate a product-focused photoshoot (shot list, scheduling, visual planning)
Help plan, organize, and repurpose content for Instagram, email, and stories
Track social trends and pitch ideas that are witty, clean, fashion-forward, or all of the above
Write, organize, and schedule content using Google Workspace, Airtable, and Canva
Draft email campaigns and prep layouts using Brevo (or similar tools)
Assist in planning for upcoming launches and in-person events
Stay on top of what’s working—and help us track and improve performance
Be ready to pitch in across projects. We’re a startup. Everyone gets their hands in a little bit of everything.
What We’re Looking For
A third- or fourth-year college student (or recent grad) in marketing, communications, journalism, fashion, or a related field. That said—if you’re earlier in your academic journey but have the skills, drive, and time to commit, we’d love to hear from you.
Be brave and apply.
Relevant coursework might include: Strong writing and visual storytelling skills
A sharp eye for detail and strong organizational instincts
Comfortable with Instagram, Canva, Google Drive, and project management tools (we use Airtable and Google Workspace)
An interest in fashion, cultural storytelling, or slow brand building
Bonus if you’ve used Brevo, Klaviyo, or another email marketing platform
Familiarity with or curiosity about the South Asian diaspora is welcome, but not required
This Role Is For You If:
You thrive in fast-paced environments and like working behind the scenes
You have opinions about fonts and reels (and you’re not afraid to share them)
You want a role where you’ll learn a lot—and quickly
You’re a proactive self-starter and know how to ask the right questions
You’re looking for more than a line on your resume—you want real ownership
Why This Matters
We’re not here to gatekeep. Startups are where you learn the most, because you do the most. This is a high-impact role with mentorship, creative freedom, and the potential to evolve into something more long-term if it’s the right fit.
